Moody & Vintage New York Winter Wedding

Lydia & John celebrated their moody, vintage “January Wedding” amongst friends, family, laughter at The Venue in Upstate, New York, a former cathedral turned wedding venue during the middle of a snowstorm. The weather didn’t stop anyone from celebrating, though, and what a way to kick off my 2020 weddings, than with one of the emotional weddings I’ve seen yet. Lydia & John are one stylish pair, and each detail reflected their Scroll to see all the gorgeous feels details from this edgy & dark mid-winter wedding as I walk you through the story of their wedding day.

The Bridal Suite at the Venue had some killer light and architectural details that made my photographer’s heart swoon. John also surprised Lydia with this framed lyric from one of their favorite songs, and it was waterworks for the Bridesmaids.

Can we all take a moment of silence to appreciate John’s shoe selection? #shoegoals

The boys enjoyed some foosball and the company of Lydia & John’s dog Jemima as they got ready in the groom’s suite.

Nothing like classic brick as a backdrop for some groomsmen’s portraits. Never too stiff though.

I took advantage of the gothic, moody elements in the former cathedral of the Venue to get creative with their portraits. What do you think? I’m always a fan of fun lighting and a little Vogue.

Lydia & John’s wedding ceremony was filled with endless amount of laughter and tears (myself included), and I have to admit, was one of the most entertaining wedding ceremonies I’ve ever seen. Lydia’s brother and their bridal party brought all of the energy, all the jokes, and all the hype!

Every detail of their wedding was personal. The Venue was lit up with the dreamiest lights for their reception, Lydia hand wrote their chalkboard wedding signs, and they even had doozies made of their kitty who couldn’t join their pups in attendance. Their speeches and dances did not disappoint, rounding out one hell of an emotional evening. It was so obvious how much every person at their wedding loved Lydia & John as much as they loved each other.

Cake & Dancing rounded out the night, before guests headed to the after party, regardless of the blizzard that awaited them outside.

I can’t think of a better way to kick off my year of weddings, and I’m so incredibly blessed not just to be Lydia and John’s friend, but also their wedding photographer. Thank you so much for choosing me to document your love story and be your wedding photographer.
